Hi, my name is Brian Ashdown. I am a certified professional photographer born in Chippinghurst Manor in the county of Oxfordshire, but lived most of my life in London, England.
Since a young child, I have always been interested in photography and began developing and printing my own pictures from the age of 12. For 4 years I attended the
University of Westminster - Polytechnic in Regent Street, London, a college famed worldwide for its photographic courses. I passed my final examinations with credit in Portraiture, Commercial, Industrial and Advertising Photography. I worked for 5 years for a photographic studio in the heart of London specializing in commercial and fashion photography. By the time I left England, wedding photography was the main part of my business. I covered weddings at locations ranging from Westminster Cathedral, The Tower of London Chapel and Caxton Hall (the civil wedding place for the rich and famous) to quiet country chapels.
I came to Virginia in 1980 where I started my photographic business, Ashdown Photography. I receive many recommendations for my wedding photography and therefore mainly work in Virginia, W. Virginia, Maryland and D.C. I also cover most other forms of photographic work (see my link to 'Other Services') I am available evenings and weekends when most studios are closed.
During my career as a wedding photographer I have been privileged to attend a huge diversity of weddings, so I am familiar and sensitive with the procedures and traditions of Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox and Hindu weddings.
